Step 2: Enter your assumptions on the input tabs

Fintech Revenue Forecast

  • The fintech revenue projection model will generate a reliable sales prediction based upon your specific income assumptions. Using inputs like your user acquisition costs and conversion rates, your fintech's subscription packages and churn rates, and other revenue streams like ads, in app purchases, and transaction fees. This section will also calculate your per transaction cost with direct expenses and COGS.

Fintech Operating Expenses

  • The fintech operating expenses section of this template enables you to break down each of your monthly expenses that aren't related to labor. You'll be able to enter your fintech's expenses monthly for the first 6 months to account for startup expenses and then monthly averages for the remaining years. Each expense can be entered as a static amount or a percentage of revenue so the expenses can scale with your business growth.

Fintech General Assumptions

  • This fintech projection template begins with starting assumptions including assets to be purchased, loans, investments, and accounts payable to calculate how much startup capital your fintech needs as well as your balance sheet. The template will calculate your fintech's amortization, depreciation, interest expense and more directly into the pro forma balance sheets.

Fintech Salaries Planning

  • Starting a fintech may require a lean model and the majority of the costs will be tied to people. This section of the fintech projection template will allow you to plan each position and how many of each position you will need so you can see how that impacts the bottom line of the projections. Employer taxes, benefits, and owner compensation will also be handled by this section of the fintech startup projection template.

Step 3: The model is automatically updated based on your assumptions

Fintech Financial Summary Tab

  • This At-A-Glace tab shows you a financial summary in the form of data visualizations, ratios, and fintech financial summaries, all ready to be copied into a pitch deck or business plan.

Fintech Financial Pro Formas

  • There are six different Fintech Financial Statement tabs: the annual formats of the income statement, cash flow statement, and balance sheet, and the month-by-month breakdowns of the same financial statements. Our balance sheets always balance, automatically.

Investor & Valuation Friendly

  • The Investor Dashboard tab enables you, a lender, or an investor to play with any main assumptions of your fintech's revenue model. This tab will then display the income statement from your model and a special, modified income statement that updates as you manipulate the assumptions. This enables you to see how sensitive your model is to certain variables without any redundant data entry

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fintech startup?

A fintech startup is a company that develops or utilizes technology to solve financial challenges. PayPal is a famous example of a fintech, a financial technology company, that aimed to make it easier to send and receive payments electronically between two individuals.

How do fintech startups make money?

Fintech companies have different revenue models, but a couple of common revenue models include a freemium service where the users get certain features and functionality for free, but some percentage of users opt to purchase a premium subscription for the service. For example, Robinhood allows users to place free stock trades, but they also have a number of premium features that users can opt to pay for. Some fintech's will also generate a transaction fee that could be both a fixed fee + a percentage of the total transaction value. Stripe is a good example of a fintech that charges both a fixed fee per transaction plus a percentage of the total transaction value.

What is the difference between the fintech financial model and the mobile app financial model?

ProjectionHub sells both a fintech financial model and a mobile app financial projection spreadsheet. The models are similar to each other. The primary difference is that the fintech model includes the ability to add revenue based on a fee per transaction and a percentage of total transaction value.
